You understand my point though, yes? The main focus of the company isn’t to make or even maintain games at this point. The fact that they are even making a game right now is exceptional in that regard.
 
And to be clear, from what I’ve seen Artifact looks like it could have a lot of promise. Personally I’m glad it’s being made even though I am disappointed Valve’s other properties aren’t getting the attention that I think they deserve. That’s mostly down to how the company is structured though, so it’s not like me wingeing about it is going to change anything.

They primarily focus on other things these days and don’t really brand themselves as a game’s company at all anymore. Yes they do make some games and they still devote some resources to supporting their older games, but otherwise they focus almost completely on being a tech company and maintaining steam.
 
This is something that Valve as a company will openly admit to. They are not a game company, they are a tech company that just happens to make games on the side.
