At least they do not disregard romance for the side characters who had little to no screentime.


 
Also, how is romance girly? There are a few other non-girl-oriented shows that does not let romance ruin anything, for example, Young Justice and Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Aang. (And if you are going for the "“different shows for different demographics"” excuse, then come up with anything that holds up the argument than just that)
