I know who you’re talking about now. They made the 3D sleeping Pinkie that was in a live action environment. The smile she made at the end was a bit on the uncanny side for me but despite that, I think the model and the animation were very well done. It definitely deserves its spot as one of the most top voted pictures on this site.

What perplexes me is why he proceeded past the sculpting stage.  
I’ve made pony models, some better than this, some worse, but none of them made the cut and thus I never bothered to retopograph, texture, rig, or tune the material shaders. It’s all rather futile, like putting makeup on a pig and all.  
Good rule of thumb is, if it don’t look like how you imagined it would, than it’s probably a lot worse than you realize and you should probably start over or do a major overhaul.

Okay, one of those people is obviously DJTHED. His models and animations are pretty stellar. But who is the other one?
 
Galawaille has made some pretty great looking models too. They made one for all of the mane 6, Starlight Glimmer, Trixie, and a few others.
 
Another person I know that made great 3D models was 2Snacks but he never made any Pinkie Pie models and he gave up 3D to continue to work on 2D projects.
 
And you’re right, making a model from scratch is difficult work. If OP tweaks the eyes on the Twilight model and makes her snout a bit more pronounced, it might end up looking really great in the future.

Hey, but you know I will say this: Good job on trying to make a 3D pony model from scratch. Few of us have the bravery, and most of us will just default to Source Filmmaker always. There’s only, like, 2 people in this fandom that I know who can do good 3D pony model from scratch, and both make Pinkie Pie.
