Oh, hey, I was right.
I can imagine medical technicians and nurses using it for both, though. But I distinctly remember the choice of material was important - hydrogen has a wavelength that’s very good at blocking the radiation, iirc, and plastics have a lot of it. I may be thinking of cosmic rays, though, or doubting myself too much again.
I should just look it up…
@Rafuki
They are very scary and uncanny looking masks, to me. But cancer and radiation treatment aren’t exactly pretty to begin with, so…
But life is. Life is the ability to comprehend beauty at all.

Heh, yeah, I thought people would get uncomfortable when they learned, so I thought I’d might as well stop others from saying stuff they’d regret.

It’s for radiation treatment, I have and adult version hanging on my wall from when I went through radiation after chemotherapy.
Reminds me of the game Manhunt.
And the terrifying gang of the Smileys.
Aww, I took a look at the source and I think you’re right.
Welp, my last comment looks pretty insensitive now upon learning that.
Edit:
@equestrian
Ninja’d. I knew they were some medical something. And MRI machines look a lot like CT scanners, so that’s probably how I mixed it up in my head. I know they’re totally different in how they work, though.

That looks like an MRI-mask, or whatever they’re called. It’s function is to keep the head completely still while it’s being scanned. I bet this photo shows a kids version.
Edited because: Context happened.
