Rainbow Dash: The mare walked alongside her daughter, their hooves pressing into the cloudy surface beneath them as they made their way around Cloudsdale. The smaller filly was bouncing excitedly to get to see her grandmare that day. Windy Belle was always excited to see the mare she was named after. Also, Windy Whistles had a tendency to smother her little Belle, even more than she did with Rainbow Dash.
Windy Belle: “Oh mom! I’m so excited! I haven’t seen Gran since your last Wonderbolts Gala!”
Rainbow Dash: The mare smiled lovingly as she walked close to the filly. “Calm down, Belle. You’re always excited to see your grandmare aren’ you.” She giggled softly and looked up to see a familiar yellow mare in the distance. “Hm?” She paused and tilted her head to the side as the figure got closer and suddenly turned into one figure and one smaller figure. “Spitfire?” Dash asked curiously before her and her daughter got close enough and stopped walking.
Spitfire: “Well, lookie here. Rainbow “Crash” as I live and breath%” She chuckled softly before extending a hoof.
Rainbow Dash happily took her hoof, only to be pulled into a big hug. The mares had actually shown interest in each other when they were much younger, just becoming team mates and all, but they were soon best friends in the Wonderbolts. “Hey Spitfire%” She smiled and stepped back, looking back down at her confused little filly.
The yellow mare paused noticing Rainbow’s eyes moving and smiled widely, before kneeling down to the filly’s level. “Well, hi there~ You must be Windy Belle.”
The small filly’s eyes quickly lit up and her face turned a soft red shade as she realized this was one of her Wonderbolt heroes. “S-Spitfire…” She gulped and quickly hid underneath her Mother. She was so nervous and had no idea what to say.
The yellow mare giggled and tossed her long mane to the side to get out of her face. “Your mother has told me so much about you. I heard you were in the Junior Speedsters flight camp a little while back%”
The mare felt nervous and her heart was racing as she slowly looked up at the firey mare, nodding politely. “Mm…u-uh-huh…” She mumbled weakly before looking back down.
Rainbow smiled and nodded, “She graduated top of her class.”
“As I’d expect from the daughter of the Wonderbolts most energetic mare. The only mare who has more spitfire, than Spitfire herself.” The two exchanged chuckled, remembering some old times they shared at the races and performances they had. Windy Belle was so excited to meet this mare, she was a bit surprised to realize that there was a colt standing behind her.
Windy Belle paused and tilted her head, taking a step out and noticing the colt, who’s mane covered his eyes slightly. He was the same yellow as his mother but had a blue mane, with different shades of darks and blues mixed in. She smiled and waved her front hoof kindly.
Spitfire noticed the tyke’s action and moved her front hoof back to nudge her son forward. “Windy, this is my son - Raven Wind.” She smiled sweetly to the girl. Immediately the quiet colt looked down, blushing softly and staying quiet. He didn’t seem at all like his mother. In fact…he was acting like the exact opposite.
Windy Belle smiled and took another step forward before finally speaking to him. “H-Hi%”
The colt remained quiet and nervous before lowering his head a bit more.
Rainbow Dash was a partially surprised at how shy this colt was, however she did know that Spitfire had a tendency to over shadow the ponies around her. She smiled down at the colt and tilted her head. “Your Mother told me about you too, Raven%” She said softly, as to not startle him.
Spitfire’s pride soon began to show as her feathers ruffled up and she smirked, nodding. “Mhm, graduated first in his class at the young flyers camp, and has already been accepted into the Wonderbolts Academy as a colt. As of now, Raven can top Soarin’s speeds when he first started with the Wonderbolts. He’s my pride and joy% Thunderlane tries to help him out when he can but you know Thunderlane, always off on events and races. Parenting couldn’t really slow him down.” The mare laughed, not seeing anything wrong with this.
Thunderlane and Spitfire were never actually married. Spitfire merely came to an agreement with the stallion that she wanted a foal. Thunderlane agreed, and ‘helped’ her out. The two are close friends but nothing more. They both care about their son, just…mostly his career.
Windy Belle sat down, still sitting close to her mother, eyes still stuck on this mysterious colt. She couldn’t see his eyes until he tilted his head up to look at his mother. His mane fell out of his face just a little bit and immediately Windy could see those beautiful golden orbs. They had a slightly darker tinge to them but the filly was in awe. Suddenly she felt like she could understand what he was feeling. He seemed uncomfortable and even slightly hurt. He didn’t seem to care about what his mother said. He just seemed…lonely. The filly frowned, just staring at him before he slowly looked back at her and their eyes met. He quickly became flustered and looked down, mane covering his eyes again. Their mothers continued to talk while they got to know each other better without even exchanging a word.
Finally the two had a hoof on their shoulder as their mother said their goodbyes and parted ways. Windy Belle smiled and said goodbye before hurrying off with her mother, not even noticing the tiny smile on Raven Wind’s lips. Spitfire didn’t notice this either, and the two walked off to their own destination.
