What do you mean no, it happens to non-shiny plastic, Transmetal Megatron would have it in the waist, a dull brown/black color, yes gold plastic was faster but not the only one to suffer, like I said the name if from gold being the most common one NOT THE ONLY ONE.

@Prof.
No, only gold plastic and similar (silver, bronse etc) shiny plastics were ever affected. No other kind was so fast to begin deteriorating and crumbling. Other kinds of plastics suffered (and some still do) from other issues. Like, normal plastic is prone to yellowing, especially white. Or clear plastic is very fragile. But brittling is exclusive to the shiny plastics.

It’s not really about gold color, it’s just that an old phenomenon of some toys having some plastic that would decomposing and/or be brittle, it’s better know for late G1 to Best Wars Trasformers, and some other toys as well, but it’s all but gone now, mostly on really cheap toys now.

very true, but another misconception, it’s not just with gold colored plastic, it was just the most well known, so you statement of it being a gold frame was pointless.

Since mid 00s Gold Plastic Syndrome isn’t much of an issue anymore. It’s only a problem for toys made in 90s. My gold frame Strike Freedom is doing fine so far.
