Well, to her at the time, they were just six random ponies who ruined what she thought was a perfect life in a perfect town. There was reason for her to think of them being that important to the world. Hell, any outsider looking in wouldn’t think that. So I don’t blame her at all for that element never crossing her mind.

It was the inevitable consequence of tampering with time and fate. Without that group the least that would happen is Nightmare Moon winning. Apparently, in spite of stalking Twilight, she didn’t research who that group really was if she didn’t know that.
To be fair, destroying the timeline was not her plan to begin with.
