Maleficent would be genuinely terrifying in MLP, at least from the ponies’ point of view. Discord, Chrysalis and NMM had their quirks, but Maleficent lacks the goofiness and cheesiness of most MLP villains. She’s a female Sombra with more screentime.

Can’t forget the whole “curse a child to die” and the symbolism of luring Aurora up the tower.
