The sad thing that’s how the Japanese court functions, they still have the outdated and dangerous mindset of “guilty until proven innocent.” as such defense attorneys in Japan constantly face near impossible uphill battles to the point that the vast majority of trials end in a guilty verdict which as you can imagine has lead to many innocent people being convicted of a crime they never committed while the true culprit gets away scott free.
I would seriously hate to be in that guy’s shoes. Every case is a case where the defence has to do ALL the legwork because apparently in that universe, everyone convicted is guilty until proven otherwise.
It will happen naturally, anyway
