I would be able to get myself a girlfriend IF I had more free time and was comfortable with public affection. Alas I have little to no free time and don’t like being cuddled up to in public.

Call it commiserating rather than confirming. Sorry if I seem so depressing, I’m just being a touch bitter ATM.

It’s funny to me how, rather than trying to prove me wrong and tell me I’m just doing it wrong, everyone is trying to bring me to terms with the fact that I have very low odds of finding a mate.

Kind words, but to continue the card analogy, sometimes people know they were dealt a pair of 3s, and no amount of optimism or clinging will make a difference. And the only thing it eventually tempers is a bitter outlook on life.

Come on now fellas, don’t let such a world view get you down.  
Feeling like the odds are stacked against you - feeling like an underdog. It can be daunting and disheartening.  
But don’t give in fellas, don’t bury yourselves in distress and self pity, it will only be the end of you!  
Instead, cling to the fact that you are still here, the fact that the struggle is yet to be over, and the fact that you still have a fighting chance.  
It may not be easy, and you may feel like you have an unreasonably long road ahead of you.  
But remember, You have agency. No matter how much you may feel like it, you are not helpless. If you forget that, you may end up ditching your chances for good. So rather, choose to feel empowered by your opportunity, choose to relish in your own adversity, and let it temper you into an even better version of yourself.  
Choose to keep improving your chances.  
Choose to keep taking chances.  
Don’t ever give up.

How the world works. Women are ridiculously advantaged in this respect. It doesn’t matter if you’re not super-attractive, or rich, or whatever. If you’re a woman there’s tens of thousands of guys who’ll trip over themselves to be with you. Not all of them decent people, mind you, but YOU won’t have an issue with a shortage. While men can go their whole lives and be rejected out of hand repeatedly because they don’t measure up to ideal standards.
 
There are exceptions, of course, but it does seem like in the relationship world the men are dealt the losing deck.
