@Background Pony #920D
You know there is a reason, why you shouldn’t reply to old comment. And I am quite feel cringe and just unpleasant now remember several months ago, thank you so much.
I mean so what if Sega doesn’t give a shit? that doesn’t change anything. That doesn’t change my feeling toward, even if you explain it “regarding accuracy” or the hell are you comment is. My feeling toward it still the same and I still feel cringe toward it. I mean fine, if you or other doesn’t feel the same way. But not for me, thank you so much
@Cyan Lightning
I’m no rocket scientist, I’m pretty sure Sega doesn’t give a shit about accuracy to real life. Sonic doesn’t even look that much like a hedgehog, yet he’s still named “Sonic the Hedgehog”. That should tell you where they stand regarding “accuracy”.
Besides, Sonic came out in the ’90s. Everything that was considered “TOTALLY XTREME, DUDE-BROSKI!” back then is probably considered stupid to some capacity nowadays.
@Spritejunkee
“Cool” doesn’t equal accurate. Sure I could say Pony as “Banana” in fan fic or Rarity as “Spike” but people who fan of my little pony would be feel it sound off.
Also developers at least should do a bit of research so they don’t look like “try to sound cool, but stupid at the same time.”
Say whatever you want, ruby tag is not incorrect, as much as the creator of sonic is retarded and thinks all gemstones are named emerald that is a ruby and for effects of allowing people find art with rubies it should be there.
@CyanLightning
I don’t know much about the Sonic universe but the point is that in the games and shows they’re called the Chaos Emeralds. Whichever civilization found them decided to call all of them Chaos Emeralds; they probably decided to call them that because they didn’t want to have to give them all individual names based on gem type. Or maybe they just thought it sounded cool.
@LightningBolt
Seriously? either the creator is writers/developer is color blind or they actually don’t know the name gemstone. This is pretty much make people who know about the gemstone cringe.

Like I said, “emerald” sounds cool and the developer who thought of the name most likely isn’t an expert on gemstones.
Also, according to the sonic wiki: “Emerald” is used in Japan as a generic term for jewels.
And why don’t developer just named it quartz instead of emerald? It would be less cringe for gemstone fan.

Yeah, it would better if the developer naming those gemstone with Quartz instead of Emerald like Green Quartz, Blue Quartz and others.
Fun Fact: Quartz is the only gemstone that cuts this way that also has all these colors.
And that’s why it’s make me feel cringe now.

Well that’s what the series calls them.

Yeah that’s what actually they should be named.
They are called Chaos Emeralds in the Sonic series tho, so real world logic doesn’t apply.
Unless if you’re a color blind. Emerald is green, while Ruby is red.

Also this is a logo for Ruby programming language.
@CyanLightning
NO IT IS NOT A RUBY IF IT WAS A RUBY IT WOULD BE CALLED A RUBY BUT IT ISN’T BECAUSE IT’S AN EMERALD
there is a red chaos emerald
