Perhaps, certainly in the near future; Royals getting married and having babies. Bank Holidays and street parties all around! Spiffing!

Lots of chances to meet new people and get to know them.
Then hate them forever.

Unless you live in the 99% of the country that won’t bother/can’t afford such parties, but then you’ll probably hate your neighbours already.

I had a friend of mine try some malt cider. He… er… he didn’t like it much… :\

On a more serious note, Christmas advertising is unavoidable as it is perennial (though I know the pain of actors shivering in their full-winter gear in mid July…) but I would get angry with any official decorations going up before November 11th.

On a side note…
@Ardashir: You say that, but since we’ve largely limited such socialising behaviour to just New Years, it’s hardly surprising community spirit has faded so much in the UK :(

I do agree that it gets annoying when the store out the Christmas stuff out earlier and earlier – eventually, they’ll just put it up January 1st and leave it up.

But hey at least we don’t have people celebrating Christmas by home invasions, rioting, and drunken brawling in the streets like in 16th and 17th century England.
