Trixie’s probably my first choice when it comes to making Starlight jealous, their interactions are more engaging and it would be funny, plus Trixie/Sunburts relationship seems to be more interesting than with him and Twilight (no offence I think him and twilight would make a cute couple, but I’d find it to be a tad boring) I don’t mind it as a ship, but I’m getting a very strong idolisation vibe from sunburst towards twilight. Very similar to how Twilight used to be with Celestia, now that twilight is like celestia. Add to that, after season 7 finale, both sunburst and starlight seems to be similar to twilight, its like if twilight is what sunburst/starlight would be like if they fused.

Trixie could work too, she’s my second choice as Starlight’s “rival”. My third choice would prolly be Moondancer, because…they basically went to the same school, wear glasses, don’t take care of themselves, generally very awkward, she looks like Twilight and…

i get it. Twilight just sees him as a friend. just like that fic “Triggered” where starlight becomes frustrated thinking twi and sunburst have something going on.
 
If not twilight, then maybe trixie. They both like tricks and they both enjoy each other’s company (and both use capes). Also, Trixie seems to always get on Starlight’s nerves. She’s the typical annoying friend that you can’t help but love

That’s completely fine; Twilight doesn’t NEED to have a crush on Sunburst. Starlight just has to misunderstand the situation. I guess I didn’t explain it clearly enough: I want a running joke where Starlight feels jealous and think there’s something going on between her childhood crush and her respected teacher. Whether or nor Twi and Sunburst really like each other–I don’t care. I just want to see more flustered Starlight, more jealous Starlight.
 
The conflict isn’t that Sunburst and Twilight like each other, but that Sunburst seem to prefer some other girl over Starlight. That other girl? Why not Twilight? She and Sunburst hit it off, they went to the same school, same hobby, and Sunburst really fanboy over her. As for Twilight? she doesn’t need to like Sunburst. Get it?

Agreed, and I want more of it. Any mare can technically do, but Twilight would be the best in this case due to how much “synergy” she and Sunburst has–even in the finale. Therefore, if the FiM team decides to make “jealous Starlight” a thing, Twilight being Starlight’s rival would make the most sense. In addition, Starlight’s unique relationship with Twilight would add to the drama and conflict. All played for comedy, preferably.

Its fun seeing Starlight get upset or jealous when Sunburst likes someone else other than her. It makes her do creepy things and it makes her character impressionable. For once, Sunburst gives her a personal stake in the story.
 
It doesn’t need to be Twilight. It can be any random mare as long as it gets a reaction from Starlight. Its the whole gimmick of Uncommon Bond. Its also why Spike, Thorax or Discord weren’t involved with the friends Sunburst spent time with. They all had to be mares.

FiM airs (or used to air) on Tiny Pop in the UK and Treehouse TV in Canada, which also airs stuff like Clifford the Big Red Dog and Peppa Pig.

…so? you can have a triangle without being romantic. A triangle can be really innocent; no need for kisses or nothing it just means “starlight likes sunburst but he likes twilight” and that’s…it? AND I would be okay with them just making the triangle a running joke like the way they’re doing starlight’s past.

we already had betrayal and treachery in the form of discord and Tirek. we already had an actual jealousy with discord flutterhsy treehugger and than weird episode between rarity, trenderhoof and AJ–heck, there are WORSE things that have been portrayed in FiM so far; a lot worse than “a girl likes a childhood friend, but he’s geeking over another girl who happens to be that girl’s teacher and mentor”
 
Season 1 was chock full of stuff I think to be worse than a little triangle. Blatant Racism is one I can think off the top of my head–season 1 was whack, now that I rethink about it…

Getting Sunburst x Twilight might run the risk for a potential betrayal and treachery

it was a side joke. mlp is too innocent. There are countries where the show is aired on Discovery Kids, That’s how much innocent it is. So yeah, That ain’t gonna happen (Especialy since only married couples are allowed to kiss each other)

…they ought to start realizing that regular 9 yr olds are already experiencing their first love triangles and by 12 they get their first heartbreaks. kids ain’t dumb: they CAN process these stuff.  
Look, my 11 yrs old niece loves the Lady Bug show because of that hilariously dumb love triangle premise between the girl, the guy, and the girl’s alter ego.
 
But if that can’t happen…well shame. They foundation’s there, all they gotta do is build on it. Uncommon Bond AND Shadow Play already give us delicious triangle materials and maybe–maybe it doesn’t have to be so blatant, maybe it can just be a side joke or something.

on the flipside, Twilight x Sunburst is a lot less awkward and actually looks very natural. Even in the Season 7 finale, they work really well together, with Sunburst and Twilight supporting each others’ opinions and exchanging looks of approval. Meanwhile the Glim is on the side, once again.
 
I seriously want my Starlight x Sunburst x Twilight triangle to be a thing, man!

Twilight never stood a chance. Sunburst’s character was created for Starlight’s very back story. Sunburst exists for Starlight.
