the issue is the potential. the itnernet was classified as title 2 to prevent things liek fast and slow lanes and daming up the internet.

and honestly, that is what Verizon and comcast and the like want. to artificially inflate their net gains by hampering the internet. they were prone to do so already back in the day if you look it up. throttling connection to one site to promote use of sites they had created instead.

government is up in too much shit. but it being listed as a title 2 prevents it from being exploited by isp companies. which they would do without question… but only over time. chip awayyear by year.

i would point towards microtransactions in video games as an example of how corporate does it

So do I, I’m not that young. The 80s and 90s really weren’t that innocent either though. Net neutrality is only from 2015 that’s where that date came from. People seemed to thrive on the internet before 2015 plenty fine is the point. シ

Does anyone remember the Internet before 2015? There were still memes and the Internet was much the same then as it is now and there was not net neutrality in those days. If they repeal it then all it will do is be like pre 2015 internet again and transfer control from the FCC, who really have no business being involved unless they are attempting to curtail free expression, to the FTC. You know the federal trade commission, the actual organization that prevents things like what people are afraid is going to happen with different cost plans. Furthermore, the whole restricted data thing is not going to happen regardless. Anyone who says otherwise is either selling something, lying, or has absolutely no idea how markets or competition actually works. These companies know people won’t stand for these fearmongered ‘plans’. The first company who tries it is going to lose thier customer base almost entirely if they have any competition. If you have only one provider and they pull this bs then you can report them for antitrust violations to the FTC and sue the pants off them. Or hey start your own isp in your area, you will make millions if you have superior service for a decent price and no limits. As it stands currently, people actually have less protection from predatory pricing by isps under net neutrality and the FCC. You want to stop companies from taking advantage of you, don’t use them, and elect representatives that will break up monopolies like comcast, if that doesn’t work sue the company for antitrust violations. Its why we have a legal system with business law set up the way it is.

Understanding the organizations involved and the actual legislation goes a long way. Reposting unoriginal, useless, fearmongering hysteria adds nothing to the conversation.
