OP forgets the terrible battles waged for Okinawa, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, and Midway. Needless to say, more lives on “both” sides would have been lost without the intimidating show of force from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Japanese empire struck first, and awoke a monster war machine it was not prepared to face… It also did not intend to stop with Pearl Harbor.
