My Little Pony: Friendship War
And then after Tirek is reformed, Twilight flat out gives her wings and crown over to Starlight because that’s what this whole series was all building up to from episode one right Dhx? RIGHT?
He actually does not count as an Avenger. He was the Director of SHIELD who gathered them as part of the Avengers Initiative but he is not an official member. Kinda like Princess Celestia to the Mane 6.
What I’m worried about is how accurate to the book it’s going to be…..which for two thirds of the book was basically Thanos being better than everyone because fuck you he has the Infinity Gauntlet i.e. boring as all hell. I didn’t think it could get any worse than Sosuke Aizen and Yhwack but then I end up finding Marvel had already beat Tite Kubo to the punch on that kind of crap by about a decade…..
Personally I can’t see how Infinity War won’t be an overcrowded mess. The fact that’s being made by the same hacks that made the clusterfyay that was Civil War and IW had triple the cast as that hardly instills me with confidence.
“And there’s one other person you’ve pissed off, his name was Phil…”

Hulk.
Thor.
Iron Man.
Captain America.
Black Widow.
Hawkeye.
Great, now the people here can’t even do basic math…
Six, the original movie Avengers were six.
Episodes like “A Royal Problem”, “The Perfect Pear”, “Once Upon a Zeppelin”, and “Uncommon Bond” among others would beg to differ in DHX becoming lazy with their writing (Also, FYI, writers for the show work under Hasbro, not DHX). With the exception of “Slice of Life”, Hasbro/DHX has never directly catered to the bronies or the brony community. In fact, they used “Fame and Misfortune” to reiterate their long held stance that their job is to create a fun show that can be enjoyed by everyone while spreading the virtues of friendship, not appease to the desires of any certain group.

Your feelings towards Super pretty much sums it up nicely. It didn’t need to exist but they just had to do it anyway because fan reaction to those two movies was through the roof. They could have just left it alone at Beerus and Golden Frieza but they got too greedy with the adoration and now here we are, some fucking multiverse tournament of power with new disposable characters in every sense of the word as the penalty for bracket elimination is having yourself and your entire universe wiped from existence……almost makes you forget Dragon Ball was just a gag manga….
I haven’t really watched Super much, mainly because it kind of felt a bit…well, like it didn’t really need to exist as bad as that sounds. Everything was more or less wrapped up at the end of Z, I didn’t see a need to add much more to what happened in the years leading up to the epilogue. To be fair I have the same opinion towards GT.
It is sad to hear that the non-saiyan heroes are continuing to get shafted though. But that is a bit of a Shoenen problem I’ve found where if you aren’t the lead and/or Rival of the Lead your going to be pretty much sidelined most of the time.
If anything you’re just adding to my point of how badly adding new characters can backfire horribly, hell this even brings Dragon Ball into the discussion as the entire later half of it including Super is because of studio mandate and fan demand. Oy vey is Super a real mess….and oh God what did they do to Tien?
To be at-least a little fair, that at-least wasn’t ENTIRELY Kubo’s fault during the Arrancar arcs. If I recall, the word from his editors was to give the Arrancars more screentime because the fans liked them so much. Granted, I’m not disagreeing with your statement that too many characters can be a detriment to the show. But, it wasn’t ENTIRELY (At-least to start with) Kubo’s fault that Bleach turned out how it did.
I got one word that perfectly encapsulates why we should keep the focus on the Mane Six and not all these new characters. Bleach. You can say that it’s a good thing to introduce new characters but I can tell you from experience that it can easily and severely backfire…..oh God can it ever backfire…..
All throughout his book Tite Kubo gave a lot of focus to the side characters and even creating new ones left and right it ended up being to the detriment of the narrative, too much spinning of the wheels with illusions of character development and the most hollow of world building and not enough actually telling the story. I could also bring up Toriko, One Piece and Naruto as they did the same exact thing but Bleach is an especially egregious example because Tite Kubo was wasting so much time with these disposal new characters and flimsy lore that the higher ups lost all patience and forced him to finish it early.
And keep in mind I’m only talking strictly the original Manga. Studio Pierrot even make the same mistakes with the anime adaptation but on an even larger scale, all the filler they were obligated to put in ended up flooding the lore with even more new characters that mucked up the narrative so much you needed a wiki nearby just to keep track of what’s going on.
And overall I only bring this up because Dhx for all their efforts and talent as artists, well, they are getting more lazy with their writing as the show goes on. Too much giving in to the
demandsof the Brony Community for easy workarounds that it is diminishing the quality of their story, quickly becoming on par with Tite Kubo.Edited because: typos
Oh ok
We’re not saying the Mane 6 should retire but just put the focus on the new characters because they need the character development.
Well mlp isn’t like wrestling, it isn’t like new faces come in while the old one retires. Even shows like the Simpsons have remained focused on the Simpsons for nearly 30 years (even if nowadays Lisa tends to get shoved down our throats) The mane 6, while they have achieved their lifelong dreams, can find new goals to achieve and find ways to spice them up. Look at fluttershy, 7 years later, she’s still changing.
Now, I wouldn’t drop the mane six entirely (assuming we’re not starting a new show altogether), but having episodes that focus more on non-mane six characters like Starlight every so often certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Well, we’ve focused on the Mane 6 for 7 years now. I think it’s time focus on new characters now, it will give the show a new, fresh start.
I do agree, I don’t think it’s bad now, but I have a feeling as more seasons come in, it’ll be more and more about glimmer. I don’t hate her (I used to) but she’s one character that is much better in small doses.
