See, this never bothered me overmuch – if you can have humans and non-sapient apes in the same world, you can have cats like Opal and cats like Capper.
 
Heck, if anything a human is a lot more like a chimp than Capper is like Opal – what with all the differences in the structure of their heads and ears, limbs and body, it’s more like the difference between a human and a howler monkey.
 
No, what always bothered me was Pluto. He’s drawn with clearly plantigrade feet bending forward at the knee and with the whole foot past the ankle flat against the ground. Dogs are digitigrades, dangit!

It’s like saying there shouldn’t be humans because chimpanzees exist. It’s clear that they’re different. Just look at the way Pluto and Goofy look, one is a bipedal humanoid while the other is just a dog.
 
I also wouldn’t put the Diamond Dogs as anthro as they’re more gorilla like in appearance

goofy is an anthro capper and the diamond dog are a species….. if a fictional one
