But Twilight really does trust her friends. But in the film, after being falsely banished by Queen Novo, Pinkie Pie blamed Twilight for being the only one who doesn’t trust her friends because of the most pivotable moment at the end of the second act of the film and the beginning if thethird act of the film.
NEVER! This pearl belongs to the Queen. Twilight should have listen! She thought it was the only thing to defeat the Storm King and liberate Equestria from the Storm King’s take over!
I’m an idiot and got my Star Wars titles confused. I meant “Rogue One”, not “The Force Awakens”.
Just to add to all you said, people seem very selective about how much moral compromise they will accept. I got to thinking of The Force Awakens [SPOILERS AHEAD] and how Cassian just straight-up kills that poor guy near the beginning of the film. Why? Because he’s fighting the oppressive Empire, and considers it necessary. And yet audiences root for the guy. Meanwhile Purplesmart here just wants to borrow a magical doodad without permission and people lose their minds.
(Which could also be a good thing considering some intersections with fans you’ve had, lol.)
@Michaelsety
Yep. And 1. Ya missed the part where I mentioned “in both world wars”. Heavier-than-air flight was still in its infancy. Perhaps the Allies refrained from using terror bombing - truth be told I don’t know much about WW1 and aviation aside from some neat trivia - but I know the Central Powers used terror bombing with airships and maybe even the Gotha bombers?
But point is, in the real world we go into such morally grey territory to fight wars that you could almost question who the “good guys” were, but we don’t say Patton or Eisenhower should’ve been imprisoned and abused for it, or the millions of GI and other soldiers who operated bombsights or the women at home that made ammunition to kill Germans.
So we kill to stay free, and it’s okay. Twilight tries to steal/borrow a magic McGuffin, and people condemn it.
Granted, Storm King wasn’t killing anypony - you could argue that’s just because of rating, but for the benefit of the doubt let’s say he didn’t - he still very much stole from the ponies the free, happy lives they wanted to live in their home, and similarly, Twilight wasn’t killing, either. So it’s a step down on both sides - IRL both sides killed, but end goal of one side’s killing was more justified - and in the movie both sides stole, and end goal of one side’s was less morally ambiguous than even WW2, and what Twilight was stealing was peanuts to what Storm King was.
So… yeah. Grats, though, this sheds some amazing light on things - that you really could have a world of beings who would condemn Twilight’s acts shows a bit of a disturbing implication for what ponies would think of our own bloody history of doing what we must to stay free and alive.
Sorry if I’m ranty, but this is an awesome show of views that I’m sure any moral philosopher would be dying to see! I’m just being comprehensive in telling the situation as I see it.

WW2?
You know what we do in the real world when a nation threatens our sovereignty?
We kill millions and millions of people, including mass terror bombing cities full of civilians. That’s called war. Every player in both world wars who could, did.
So in real life, the normal thing to do is kill tens of millions of people, including men women and children.
Twilight tried to steal a magical artifact - not even to kill a single person - and I’m sure she intended to return it when Equestria was free.
And people condemn this and say she deserved the horrible soul-breaking tormentuous despair she received?

I don’t recall infallible being a requirement for the job. If you think about it, that’s what got her the title in the first place.
Well, if she trusted her friends, she might have succeeded. As Rarity said: Pay attention to the details. And so did Rainbow Dash: Behind those dark clouds, there’s the sun waiting for you, don’t fall to the pressure.
But she didn’t. What a princess/goddess of Friendship she is.
Look at the tears in her eyes, for Pete’s sake. That’s the look of a mare seeing her last hope disappear before her eyes.

Dude, come on. What else could she do? Let Equestria fall into the wrong hooves?
