It’s just a guess. I don’t have any sources to back it up, so I’ll freely admit it’s just a gut feeling.
Edited
Do you have a source for that? It’s long been my hypothesis that most of S8 was already written when the decision to pull the plug after S9 was made.
It’s only irrelevant if you are a “Blade Runner” fan.
If you are a MLP fan, however…2049 beating the MLP movie critically is what killed G4. After that, the main G4 show was done for. They rushed out the last two seasons to end it quickly, moved forward to G5, and overall they end up giving up on MLP and focusing on Transformers and their licensed toylines.
It’s like the “Harry Potter”/“Winnie the Pooh” rivalry: it means jack shit if you are a “Harry Potter” fan, but it means everything if you are a “Winnie the Pooh” fan.

The whole movie already breaks apart because “why not use simpler Von Neumann Machines?”
Then let the mega Blade Runner fanboy
show you the divide.
Eh, didn’t feel like a fan film to me. I’m not the biggest Blade Runner or 2049 fan, but they were both solid I think.
@Cabrony
Most of the reception has been quite positive, in my experience.
Makes me appreciate how the chad movie just delivered a safe by the numbers pony adventure that didnt rock the boat much.
Why not? I’m sure this film still follows the rules of the original right? It’s not like this is a glorified fan film right?
Yeah, but like I said, it wouldn’t work in the long run.
Yeah. And the whole goddamn tension of the movie falls apart if humans could actually impregnate replicants because again, the solution would be to keep them separated so that the main bad’s plans of overpopulating fall apart.
But why segregate them?
There’s so little difference between the replicants and humans, it would betray their rights.
And if they did segregate them, then replicants would still actively try to enter human territory. And then they’d have to get people to dispose of them, ie: the Blade Runners.
Besides, the plot wasn’t about specifically robots impregnating robots, it was just them getting pregnant period, human sperm or not.
If that’s the case then there is no conflict because going back to what Rageaholic said, all that needs to be done is segregate the humans from the replicants. Problem solved. The same could also be said about the age old question of Deckard being a replicant or human in the original and I’ve already gone a little bit into that in a previous comment.
The movie never stated that it had to be two replicants to make a baby.
It was left open as to whether or not there could be a human parent.

Then allow me to give you a quote from Blade Runner aficionado and mega fanboy Rageaholic to fill in that blank.
“And can we go ahead and stop blatantly lying and saying this film doesn’t even vaguely address the question of Deckard’s humanity? It not only addresses but answers that question and does so pretty emphatically. If the core plot revolves around robots fucking other robots and pinching out robot babies, not humans and robots mind you, no one would be freaking out if that were the case because all you would have to do is keep them segregated, not horses and replicants, Ann Coulter could do with a good pipe cleaning, the only way it’s dangerous and the only way this film has a plot is if it’s replicants and other replicants.”
Idk what movie you watched, it was still ambiguous whether he was a replicant or not.
