Description
Once again through curiosity and boredom, I wanted to see how accurate Twilight’s Star Swirl costume is, now that we have the actual Star Swirl to make a 1-to-1 comparison.
Turns out, it’s not terribly accurate. Despite Luna’s insistence, she in fact did not get the bells right. They go all the way around the rim of Twilight’s hat, when they should only go about halfway.
The moon and stars should be uniform in color rather than differentiated, and the blues of the costume itself are much darker than they should be. Star Swirl even has a hole for his tail, which is lacking in Twilight’s.

Well it could be argued Starswirl’s just faded over time

Three of Harmony had to grow to full size between Starswirl’s disappearance and Discord’s takeover, so that’s a few hundred years. (It obviously didn’t grow instantly, otherwise Pillars would’ve immediately seen it)

She must have either figured that there were no accurate descriptions and pictures of his clothes and then went with something that looks good on her or more likely Rarity made it and didn’t care for accuracy and Twilight just took it anyway.
I mean Rarity is the one with all the clothing stuff and material.
Also how accurate is Luna’s memory with how old she is and all that insanity and harmonising doing a number on her mind? When she appears she basically behaves like a little child.
