I suspect that a lot of it is people who were insecure about the movie being accepted by critics and the internet commentariat, and there’s also a lot of triumphalism from people happy to see the neighsayers being proven (mostly) wrong about its critical reception. Maybe a few people wanting to make sure it’s getting good reviews before deciding to go out and see it themselves.

It’s silly, but at least it’s harmless.

Critics rated Beethoven, Bach, Mozart poorly…

What stinks one day is praised another. That’s the nature of the mind and many critics rely on it far too much. Many high rated things are usually a product of the times. Someone who is out of loop with what’s popular usually has a better time relying on their own feelings for guidance. Many things in life do not have a rating or are not even known at all…will someone giving a score magically change our interest in such things? A critic can be in a bad mood or is too busy thinking in order to pay attention to what they’re reviewing…is that person’s review worthwhile for the general public?

Critics hated Doom 64 when it came out, but they seemed blinded by the “promise” of 3D. 3D in that era is a joke today and Doom 64 is now more praised than ever. Just look at how many people still like Kung Pow with it’s 11% RT score.

It’s almost like this hurricane season: “We’re not forecasting a major hurricane”, “This season will be near average”.
Then a month later…

@Background Pony #40AD: “Money speaks louder than website ratings.”
And, as a natural extension of that undeniable statement, BUY OUR TOYS!

Because, seriously, that’s the main thing Hasbro’s concerned about.

Support the movie by actually going to see it in the theater if you can. Money speaks louder than website ratings.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I think no one should post the RT page until the number of reviews stabilize. Otherwise we’re going to be flooded with posts like this.

Looks like so far it’s coming off as solid, innocent fun and actually I think that’s what most are likely looking for in a flick like this. Either way this is a great improvement for Hasbro, their last flick in 2015’s Jem and the Holograms flopped hard with a 18% critic score and only 40% from the audience.

No matter what the Rotten Tomatoes score is, at least we can all agree that the fandom will hate it more than the critics.

Just for the record, I’m not being serious. I’m just making a joke about how negative the fandom can be sometimes, especially on this site.
