alancing act, and sometimes you just never know how people are going to react.
I completely understand. It happens all over for all sorts of things. I see it in artwork too. Sometimes I'll spend long hours coming up with a digital painting that's some of my best work and for whatever reason it won't show up on Equestria Daily, yet there's stuff on there that looks little more that a colored scribble sketch.
It's a tough balancing act, and sometimes you just never know how people are going to react.
Audience demographics, which can include Internet locations, can also be a big deal.
Certain things get really popular on Facebook but gets not a peep in Derpibooru or Deviant Art; sometimes something goes over too well on DA but is kinda "meh" on Facebook and completely ignored in Derpibooru... sometimes it's sickeningly popular on Derpibooru and not as many really care anywhere else.
In rare occasions, it'll hit that sweet spot where you know you've captured the broader audience, and no amount of data analyzing helps figuring out the science behind it.
