Lol, yeah. Good or bad emotions, art is meant to stir them.
The hard part is determining if the downvote is the correct reaction because that was the aim, feeling sorry for the character and not wanting to see it happen, or if it’s a downvote because of actual dislike of the content.
Eh, I think it’s largely because people don’t like abuse, actually. Abuse images very rarely score well.

It’s not always clear in what way someone means something on the internet due to lack of tone of voice and facial expressions and such.
I was making a joke about how this is something you’d want to do to Downvote when artwork you put hours of work into gets a negative rating.
I think the negative rating is intentional since you know the character.
