I agree with you, but consider what someone who is responsible (in this case Starlight) would do: they’d probably try to lower their responsibility by blaming others to be involved. Derpy might consider herself responsible for not stopping Starlight, no matter if she actually is responsible.
(I’m just drawing the comic, not writing it, so there might actually be other thoughts to the story)
Same. This seems more like a “Oh, we had an idea, but then one of us took it too far,” which means the blame falls entirely on the one that took it too far.
You can’t blame someone for having an idea that someone else took too far.
