no, their subjects love her for being an unstoppable badass, because that’s what she is. she fights her problems head-on, makes lightning fast judgements and takes decisive action, because of how much she cares about the ponies she protects. twilight’s the gentle one. she’s totally projecting.

sunset’s terribly vulnerable, beneath her fierce facade… but she’s not gentle. she shouldn’t be gentle. twilight’s got that one covered.
 
as much as it would hurt sunset, I really hope twilight’s wrong about this. it’s exactly the sort of “killing them with kindness” mistake that twilight would make.
