Description
I enjoyed watching the episode “Fame and Misfortune” (S7 E14) with its points aimed at parts of our fandom. However, it felt somewhat off that many of the ponies, some of whom hadn’t even been silent background ponies up to that point, all of a sudden turned out to be total jerks. Also I felt really sorry for Rarity in that episode. She really doesn’t deserve such treatment.
I got to admit that when I discovered MLP Rarity was at first the character I thought I could least relate to since I am really not interested in fashion and would probably feel somewhat awkward amidst the high circles of Canterlot society Rarity strives to belong to. However, I never “hated” her or any character from the show and I feel that if reasons such as the ones I gave above were deemed sufficient basis for “hatred” the hater would have to wonder if this isn’t the kind of superficial and judging attitude of which Rarity is sometimes accused.
In any case when I started writing my fanfiction ““Lessons in Quirks[](https://malte279.deviantart.com/art/Lessons-in-Quirks-585621487) I quickly discovered how much fun it was to write Rarity and also that her creativity is something I find very likeable. In an upcoming theater performance of the hearth’s warming eve play at a convention on September 30th / Octotober 1st I’m going to play the role of Princess Platinum / Rarity. I wouldn’t have expected that to happen by the time I first discovered MLP.
At a recent convention one brony was carying one of the anti-rarity signs from that episode along and he seemed utterly serious about it (sort of proving that some points against parts of the fandom in the episode were well founded). I felt that Rarity deserved a different kind of crowd in front of her boutique and so I assembled this image from three different screenshots and some additions of my own. With Rarity Day of Equestria Daily drawing near it seems to be a good time to give Rarity some cheer.

:D Maybe he has, but then again, the other ponies would probably not need too much convincing. We have had similar honors bestowed on Applejack, Rainbow Dash (and Mare do well) and Pinkie Pie in the past by the citizens of Ponyville.
