Thinking back to the all of the fuss and discussions about possible changes over the down voting button, which I rarely use btw, I wonder if its possible to have some kind of toggle/tagging system for a particular image that’s unloaded to Derpibooru, but exists in different resolutions/formats, or like when there’s a animated clip uploaded in both gif and webm? Would it be possible to have such images appear only once while browsing through tags, but once you load the image post you could then toggle to the different formats that have been uploaded? Defaulting to whatever the smallest file that was uploaded for that image?

it’s not against the rules or anything like that (we generally encourage higher res reuploads), but it is kind of annoying when a ton of it happens all at once.

Just when I think tumblr can’t get any worse, it requires an obscure exploit to get full resolution images.
 
We’re supposed to get the highest resolution possible but really 1280 is perfectly fine for tumblr comics. Imagine if someone went around posting duplicates of every tumblr comic with the raw images. It would be a mess.

It’s the raw, unoptimized and unresized file that was originally uploaded to Tumblr afaik. It’s also a feature that doesn’t really seem to be documented anywhere and I only randomly heard of it some months ago here in some image comments.

Also, you can get the max(?) res of a Tumblr image by replacing _1280 (or what have you) with _raw (if it doesn’t work, delete the “68.” at the beginning of the URL)

Tumblr has a maximum image width of 1280. This is 1650. You cheated by either enlarging the images or taking them from another source.

The older upload wasn’t the biggest available version, though. I wouldn’t cause dupes without a good reason.

Someone else is posting this artist work before you, so you don’t need too. It’s causing duplicates.
