Hopefully.
He’s only a Co-Story Editor this time, and he’s only co-writing this finale as well.
I think Nicole Dubuc and whoever ends up being the other story editors next season (hopefully Joanna and Kristine again) will be able to rein him in a bit.
Time to jump ship.

Yeah him regarding Haber as story editor…
Where did you get this news?
Was it ever confirmed if Joanna and Kristine would be coming back as story editors for season 8?
Is this about “Castle Mane-ia”, one out of about a dozen episodes that he wrote? Or am I missing something?
Right there with ya, Spike.
Maybe it’s just because I wasn’t paying as much attention last season as I was back during season 3, but I remember seeing all sorts of tells that there was significant stress and tribulation going on while that season was being made, whereas I didn’t really see anything of the sort during season 6. It would make sense, though, and help explain the highly-variable episode quality, particularly episodes that were of highly-variable quality in and of themselves.
I’ll be happy to have Josh Haber back as a writer, though, like an apparent majority, I do prefer Songco & Lewis as story editors.
yes, I’m that guy
@Jarkes
I didn’t mind Haber’s run as Story Editor compared to most folks, but at the same time, I LOVE what Joanna and Kristine have been doing for season 7 so far
I was… not overly enthused about his story editing, but the smoke signals were that there was lot of “stuff” going on behind the scenes with that season, so I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt there, and it’s not like the finished product was terrible or anything. I loved the heck out of Castle Mane-ia, The Dakimakura Episode and The Precious Birb Episode, and liked his other episodes too, so I hope he really is coming back as a Writer; Lewis & Songco 4 LYFE as Story Editors, though.
If it could make feel you better, Dubuc wrote for several successful shows like Kim Possible, Young Justice, Star Wars Rebels, and some pf the most recent transformers serieses (Prime, Rescue Bots and Robot in Disguise) so, she’s certanly not an incompeteant in the sector. I kinda hope that Haber’s hand is for the Pony of Shadows thing since he was the one who introduced it in his very first episode, but nothing over that. Like I said, I still confide in the facts that 1)What Starlight said in Mirror Magic was a foreshadowing of this finale; 2)That DF’s press release wasn’t misleading about this finale.
After hearing this, I became 100% convinced to quit MLP after this season and the Movie. BUT I won’t lose my hopes for the rest of the S7 (especially the finale) and the Movie. Haber mihpght have had hand on the finale but I still think that Songco and Lewis are the story editors and Dubuc is a good writer from what I’ve seen from other shows. Besides, I confide on the fact that what Starlight said in MM was effectively a foreshadowing and that the DF press release wasn’t misleading when it talked about Twilight battling the Pony of Shadows. I might quit MLP soon, but I refuse to lose my hopes on what remains to see of it for me.
I thought so too… He DID leave but then… Maybe since this Pony of the Shadows was in one of his episodes he wanted to tie up loose ends?
Seconded. Joanna and Kristine have been amazing, imho!
She wrote the Rarity’s Peek Behind the Boutique animated shorts during the Season 7 Premiere(s) and, with Michael Vogel, the chapter book series “Ponyville Mysteries” under the pen name “Penumbra Quill”.
Also, I keep forgetting who Nicole Dubuc is.Turns out, Nicole Dubuc has written for a LOT of really awesome shows.
