Like your rivalry Sunset-Twilight. Yeahhh…very credible. :v
As I said before, that was a one-off line, if there really was a “rivalry” as you say it would also be noticed in this 7th season, but as there is nothing of that your argument does not hold.
@Blackbewhite2k7
If roshi managed to damage it, it was due to the yurin magic when he was controlling it
Similar to when the characters controlled by Garlic Jr. were fighting with piccolo
Do not confuse one-off lines that are not referenced in later chapters with rivalry and none of them showed any of that, more when the former line is only a consequence of the hostility of the moment in “No Second Prances” and the latter is just a one-off joke.
Actually, Trixie used Starlight to say Twilight “I, the great and powerful Trixie is better in one stuff than you Twilight”. Also, at the season 6 finale Trixie thow in Twilight’s face her friendship with Starlight, so, yes…Twilight and Trixie rivalry is valid yet.
Except that does not make much sense since Twilight and Trixie are not really rivals and are not foil characters, they are literally 2 completely different characters without any relationship (in the sense of personality) beyond being 2 unicorns.
but there was a thirst for revenge from Trixie against Twilight and all Ponyville (especially Snips and Snails) for what happened to her in the Ursa Minor incident, being that she was the least responsible.
That you don’t like Starlight, it doesn’t means she’s not important to the history. Goku and Vegeta will be rivals forever, like Trixie and Twilight, but I hope more improvement at Trixie magic, so take that or suffer.
If you really take the trouble to read my previous comment you will see that I said that Twilight and Sunset only were rivals in the first movie, from the beginning Twilight and Sunset have been foil of each one.
For my Starlight is the disposable or nonexistent thanks to its shoehorned/repetitive/incomplete/bad writing in MLP.
Sunset and Twilight aren’t rivals. Maybe Trixie and Twilight. Starlight and Sunset are her pupils (More to Starlight of course). So, an equivalent to Dragon Ball only we talk in power levels. Twilight like Goku, Sunset and Starlight like Vegeta or Gohan would a good choice. Trixie would be now the perfect Krilin. It was a Twilight rival, but her powers are minimal. So, your comparison is futile.
According to your “analogy” then Starlight has been dead hundreds or thousands of years and a blatant cheap copy of one of the legitimate characters instead of being an expy or foil (at least Paikuhan was that way on purpose and for fun).
Obviously the rivalry of Sunset and Twilight was more than anything in the first EG movie, after the end of Rainbow Rocks became very good friends with the detail that the two still have differences in their personality that make them different people with rival style personalities and that combined with the past of both as students of the Princess Celestia makes both have the strongest rival/foil dynamics.
In addition Sunset continues interacting with Princess Twilight through the book and the dreadful special “Mirror Magic” also showed that Sunset wanted to meet with Princess Twilight and vice versa.
Rivalry?? Now Sunset only spend her time with Sci-Twi. She acquired a great power about empathy. But her magic like pony was almost forgotten. At this moment Starlight is similar to Paikuhan. Twilight is who wants Starlight makes more friends and feel pride by a good work. But continue with the picture, Twilight pony is Goku and Starlight like Gohan or Vegeta if we talk about power.
Rather you do not overvalue Starlight, anyway she’s just any villain/“redeemed villain”, without any rival connection to Twilight.
Sunset has that ultimate rivalry connection with Twilight, even more than Trixie and especially Starlight.
Technically Sunset is more a successful Twilight student than Celestia one, so Twilight would be Wiss, Sunset like Goku and Vegeta like Starlight. So, don’t desmerite so much to Starlight. She has great powers, of course below of Twilight, if we talk about canonicity.
I think you did not read well what I said.
I said Sunset is Vegeta. Starlight and Trixie do not have that connected destiny that have Twilight and Sunset.
Twilight and Sunset were students of the Princess Celestia and a great destiny awaited them both, With Sunset trying to take the easy way out to get that destiny that she ambitioned and Twilight simply went on the right path with the addition that she did not know of that destiny that awaited her.
Starlight would Vegeta, cause Trixie hadn’t enough power. Yamcha or Goten would better choices.
I have a love/hate relationship with Super as a whole. (wouldn’t have drawn this >>1366042 if I didn’t have some affinity toward it) It’s highs and lows both hit me really hard.
Hands down the most wasted character this arc (aside form buu) is bun bun. Fluttershy would not approve at all.

Yeah I know, but it still made Tien look terrible. It was even worse when he ended up doing precisely jack in the Piccolo, Gohan, Goku fight, made me wonder if they cared about him at all.
And poor Krillin’s Spike. The universe hates him and he’s emotionally reliant on a woman who’s social niceties are rudimentary at best. Poor guy… still, the abuse he goes through I think is a big part of why he’s still so popular, he’s the ultimate endearing, no respect, underdog.
Well, I hate to be that guy, but technically Roshi used the same move on Tien (who took it at 100% power) as he did on the Guy tien knocked out of the ring. That move has never been ineffective, save for when Goku turned into too big of a target to hold. I thought it was clear that prior to that, Tien was holding back, given Roshi “was still master roshi” even if corrupted by Yurin’s magic. Got up from that punch like nothing happened and took a lot more abuse from a Gohan who’s stronger that he’s ever been before.
Still would have been nice had Tiens recruitment not been sidelined by how strong Roshi got from “secret training” (although even the writers dont appear to be on the same page about that https://twitter.com/toshio916/status/861361570013511683)
Krillin did fine, too. I just don’t think he deserved to get chewed out by his wife and brother in law for saving 18 from suffering the exact same kind of elimination. It just seemed mean.

I know, I just watched it. I’m really glad Tien got to do something, he’s been so totally inconsequential in this arc, he was the only one who didn’t do ANYTHING badass in his episode prior. Hell, his contribution was getting his ass kicked by Roshi. Considering this scene in the original was what got me into DBZ in the first place, that hurt.
And I’m fine with Krillin. He has had plenty of screentime lately, and done plenty of badass stuff. He beat Gohan, and gave Goku a decent fight! Plus he was kicking ass beforehand, and his elimination wasn’t due to his lack of power or ability. Someone had to go out first, and in retrospect, he was the best choice.
No kidding
