As of right now, only 7.5 or so BILLION people live on the planet. Still too many people, but people none the less. Memes are short for Memetics, which describes a piece of culture or a comment which doesn’t need much context to completely understand it, because those who have experienced the culture associated with it will easily understand it. It is why French memes are so difficult to understand for Americans. The culture is different, which causes the creation of different memes that’re specific to one single culture. The benefits that the US has over this is that most other countries have American culture to some extent, and thus have an easier time with our memes.

Well, a meme can’t be a shitpost because it’s supposed to be relatable and understandable by at least a few other people. For example, finger boxes on 4 Chan when that was a thing. Outside of 4-Chan, it wouldn’t make sense, but inside of 4Chan, it makes perfect sense and thus cannot be a shitpost because it does add something.
 
Meanwhile, a shitpost is something that adds nothing at all. Nothing funny, nothing interesting or objective. By definition, a shitpost cannot provoke reactions other than anger or distaste, such as obvious bait. A great example would be someone using a picture of Tara Strong as a mouthpiece, and having her say something along the lines of, “All bronies are really disgusting,” or something. Nobody here would agree, at least not a noticeable percentage. It is, therefor, a shitpost.

I definitely would’ve cleared this up sooner, but I was busy doing stuff. I didn’t think this would stir up any controversy: it’s simply a popular meme that I thought many people on this site would be familiar with. Next time I’ll definitely add that it’s just a harmless meme.

i don’t think the op is being a troll here. this is a meme that originated from a brandon wardell tweet and as far as i can tell it’s not supposed to be controversial or edgy. it’s just one of those silly, outlandish “serial escalation”-style jokes in the vein of “cracking open a cold one with the boys” and stuff like that.
