Honestly, I don’t really get it either. I would say that it’s because rich characters are generally portrayed as bad in the show but then there are Fancy Pants so that throws that out the window. The thing is most of the fandom didn’t like him before EQG as well. If I had to chalk it up to anything it would likely be how Diamond Tiara acted. Since she was a spoiled brat her parents (with Filthy being the only one known at the time) must be assholes as well in some way.

He’s a really nice guy. While he wound up with a spoiled brat for a daughter and a harpy for a wife, Rich himself is a good dude.
