Yeah there are a lot of problems in her statement that makes almost zero sense, stating it would be word for Twilight to hide a “small boy in her backpack” and yet the CMC who are considerably younger than Spike attend the same high school as Twilght and the Humane 5 even though they’re still basically in elementary in the original series. Why not have him being the same age as the CMC where he’s no older than 14 while posing as Twilight’s younger brother since they seem to have that kind of relationship in the original series and still be able to give her support?
 
Megan also claimed that “Dragons through portal doesn’t = same as pony”, implying all dragons are dogs or own as pets in the EG? Now imagine if Ember or Smolder were to appear in Equestria Girls and are allowed to have human forms but not Spike, not only I’d be more livid but this would contradicts and completely go against everything Megan McCarthy has stated and I still don’t get how the Dazzlings, Cranky and even the Diamond Dogs who are basically dogs themselves in the MLP verse are given human forms.
 
Also I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to have a dog or any form of pet or animal on school grounds but I’m pretty sure Fluttershy’s been breaking that rule way before Twilight even came to the human world, but I’m blaming all of that on Principal Celestia’s ineptitude.
 
TD;DR; This is stupid. But we all knew EG was doomed to fail from the very beginning.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m a little more than upset with this. Especially when you consider the reason behind it. “It would be weird for Twilight to carry around a little boy in her backpack”. -Megan Mccarthy.
 
So don’t write him as a little boy. Make him around the same age as everyone else. Why were you even thinking that anyway? You know what would have been great? Spike moves around easily in his new body, being bipedal already, with Twilight having trouble adjusting. It’s the perfect setup for visual comedy.
 
Like with a lot of people, I don’t understand the writers need for the group to have a talking animal sidekick.

I couldn’t agree more.  
Never have I hated the every-girl-team-needs-a-talking-mascot rule more than when the role fell on this poor bastard back in the first EQG movie. And now again. Think what you will about him, he doesn’t deserve it. I know, I know, “lol taking it too seriously” and all but, it really gets more annoying the more we get confirmation that dragons are just as sapient as ponies.

But noooooooooo, dragons turn into dogs in the mirror world and they turn into puffer fish in the sea.
 
No wonder dragons hate ponies; I would too if all their magic turned my race into “cute and cuddly and completely pointless” species.
