I’ll be honest, I don’t really get the whole “not liking characters just for being too popular” thing, especially when the character isn’t as popular as you may think. Frankly I don’t think Rainbow Dash gets nearly as much love as she should because people just assume everyone likes her (which isn’t true, believe me) and she tends to get looked down on because of it.

I think trixie is kinda cute and her arrogance just makes her more unique.  
and I find rainbow dash over-liked, I like her, but she’s a character that everyone else likes, and that just detracts from my like for her. there are a few exceptions to the over-liked character thing, namely: Fluttershy.

IS it hypocritical to hate Trixie and love Rainbow Dash or vice versa? They’re both blue arrogant jerks, but Dash is endearing to me, and Trixie just annoys me.

Sorry Trixie. No one can claim 100% popularity, especially someone as…Confident as you.  
But hey, the fact that you usaully make a terrible first impression is part of your appeal.
 
A lot of characters don’t like you that much but they’re slowly starting to see that your bad qualities are small time compared to your good ones. You’re arguably the most interesting side character in the show and there’s so much potential left in your development.
 
You’ve been here since the beginning and come so far from your humble one off antagonist debut. I hope you continue to contribute in your own way, right untill the end.
