What part of this episode wasn’t?

This has had to be the most bittersweet moment in the show ever!

At the base of the tree is the stone with Bright Mac and Pear Butter’s cutie marks engraved on it. Young couples often engrave their initials together to express their love for one another, but you find the same thing on the tombstones of couples buried together.
 
Their bodies may or may not be there, but we’re looking at Bright Mac and Pear Butter’s grave.

Honestly, this scene made me cry.

Yeah, but she was upfront about it. Buttercup, aka Pear Butter was disowned by her father and it appears her entire old family. Are you familiar with the phrase “I have no son/daughter”? That’s what happened. And Pear Butter took it to heart.
 
Also, ponies need to remember that the Pears had their farm right next to the Apples. Why wouldn’t there be both pear and apple trees? Especially in this secluded place the kids likely chose for their wedding because it’s so secluded.

Though we also learned that Mrs. Cake was called Chiffon Swirl before gaining her cutie mark. So it seems not that uncommon for ponies to change their names after finding their calling.

She wasn’t there when it was planted and after Grand Pear disowned his daughter, maybe she didn’t want to go to a place that held so much pain. Pear Butter even changed her name after that happened.

And how come the Apple siblings knew it was left there by their parents and yet didn’t know their mother was a Pear?  
Yeah, this part just doesn’t make sense.

I hereby dub this the second most feelsy tree in all of MLP.
