I would think burlesque was popular about the same time as this and other Victorian styles like southern belle clothes. I feel this style was a result of a carryover from pre-1900 Victorian fashion, then came flapper dresses for dancers during the roaring 20’s.
 
Don’t quote me on any of this. I might know things about women’s fashion, but I’m making educated guesses about what I said above.

That’s amazing. Crazy to think this amazing jet liner aircraft I’m about to get on is younger than a lot of people. It’s so freaking awesome we get to communicate online, discover MLP, form communities, make and publish virtually unlimited copies of art across the world from home, and that I get to go home over 1,500 miles away in half a day of flying for Christmas!
 
Honestly, short of a hivemind and teleportation, I really wonder how the next century can top this level of revolution. A summer on Mars? Emigrate to Epsilon Eridani? AGI-based dynamically generated fully immersive VR Equestria?
 

 
You know the jetpack thing would happen, then the FAA would find some way to tape it off behind miles of red tape and thousands of dollars of certifications.
 
But no matter, there’s no fat cat beaurocracy on the plains of Epsilon Eridani E :p

I’m just glad I have time, to be honest! I know a lot of wonderful artists personally who would love to be more involved but don’t have a spare moment. I do try (but sometimes it’s awhile before I can respond).
 
And it’s no problem. I certainly don’t remember every outfit everyone wears in the show! I’m just so glad you like what I did ^_

It is amazing how much has changed in just 100 years or so! This year is the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, and also of the outbreak of Spanish Flu (which, I understand, was actually mostly our fault, but the Spanish were the only ones reporting the flu at first, so they got the blame. Of course, so did the Germans… )

Believe it or not I actually knew a lady who was born in 1910 or -09…somewhere in there, and she lived to be about 109. She was still sharp as a tack, too! She was herself amazed at the advances during her lifetime. It’s all quite astounding! (And, as to indoor plumbing/electricity, my grandfather didn’t get electricity until he was 10 or 11, in the ‘40s. Some parts of rural Idaho still use outhouses.)
 
Whatever comes next I want to be able to fly….like, jetpack flight, but without the flames eating my feet.

If we imagine someone is born in 1910 and live to 100, then they’ll grow up without electricity or indoor plumbing* and use a horse to get around, be 4 when the Great War starts and 8 when it ends, be 19 when The Great Depression hits the U.S, 29 when WWII breaks out in Europe, 35 when Hiroshima and Nagasaki are bombed with the first atom bombs (aside from Trinity, which was classified and locals in towns near enough to see it were told it was the disposal of an ammo dump), 47 when Sputnik entered Earth orbit, 51 when Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space, 59 when Armstrong set foot on the moon, and by their death in 2010, will have seen a lot of vaccines, black holes, general relativity and quantum mechanics discovered and matured to about modern levels, transistors, the personal computer, internet, cell phones and even smart phones, Youtube, and Wikipedia.
 
All having grown up without indoor plumbing* or electricity (not that they didn’t exist, just weren’t common, especially in rural areas).
 
Those first 60 or so years must’ve been really terrifying, though - going from old bolt-action rifles to nuclear bombs then rockets that can deliver nuclear bombs around the world in 40 minutes to end all human life on Earth.
 
Certainly must’ve been amazing to grow up without electricity, riding a horse into town, and eventually see men walk on the Moon and re-watch Apollo 11 on Youtube and read about it on Wikipedia.
 
And able to instantly text their grandchildren, and fly across the entire world to visit them in a single day.
 
…Looking forward to this next century being just as amazing. You’d better not disappoint, humanity. Curing aging, digital upload, Artificial General Intelligence, Mars Colony and Faster-than-Light travel for interstellar colonization to go, please, with a side of fusion power, orbital elevator and/or cheap access to orbit. Also add some intelligent alien life to be discovered if you have any, and hold the nuclear or otherwise apocalyptic genocide, please.

The first decade and a half of the 20th century before the First World War was still very much like the late 19th century.
 
To think just only over 100 years ago from now people were like this. Electricity was still a relatively new thing that most places in the world didn’t have, cars were merely horseless carriages, horses were still the primary mode of transportation for most parts of the world aside from rail trains, airplanes were in their infant stages in technological development, and the Morse Code was the main form of electronic communication.

Hah, yeah, later I realized that dress is actually in a lot of art, comes from The Titanic, and, well, it’s so similar in a lot of art because it’s straight from the show - I actually didn’t realize until just now Xp (I’d forgotten, more precisely).
 
But I realized awhile ago you weren’t just imitating other artists or stealing a design - at least not any more than drawing Rarity is stealing a design :p I would’ve commented again to correct myself, but I figured I’d just let my comment fade away into history - that, and I’ve been incredibly busy, lol.
 
But yeah, it’s great to see vector art get more love in the features, especially when it’s season 6+ quality.
