I think the CMC would probably have trounced him good, really. The mane six in a lot of these fictions lack true unity, but the CMC basically attune perfectly. It’s like fighting Ice Climbers+1. He would underestimate them, and then after getting hit once become furious at the embarrassment…And that’s when they actually get serious and pummel him mercilessly with an infinite launch combo loop.
