Son of the Young Master
Could this mean that anypony who had their friendship problems absolved (via cutie map) be summoned to the council too??

“The Map has never called me before! I mean, he’s been texting me but I never expected a call!”

Twilight just got cheated, hard–and now I’m shipping Starlight with The Map.

That face you make when you realize that you are not the main character this episode. Yes I am in team Starlight. Deal with it. 😎

For me, the map reminds me of the Takamagahara System from Blazblue.

It works by taking a moment that starts a world changing event (usually world ending) then takes the many outcomes and picks out the best.

The maps work slightly different in that rather than pick a timeline it sends a pony or ponies to influence it. It also means the map could send anyone who knows what the map is. like Big Mac who knows what it is through his sister, as opposed to someone like Night Glider who wouldn’t understand what the glowing cutie mark is.

That’s not a bad theory. I fall more in the camp the table is sort of sentient to at least the wielders of the elements of harmony and to Starlight because she has interacted with map magically at least twice: once for using it to travel through time, the second to fix it (with Twilight) from her first encounter. I think the map just kind of knows who she is now and therefore can call upon her like the mane six. Of course my theory only holds water until it calls the CMC, Spike, Trixie, Big Mac or whoever hasn’t messed with it magically.

Y’know, one of my headcanons was that the Elements-and by extension the table-were somewhat sentient… the table choosing Starlight kinda proves it…
