Then Pinkie is all like “wow! we are a reeeeeeeeeeally forgiving group” and everybody laughs!
Can you do me a favor and shut the fuck up?
Filters exist for a reason.
while I’m not about to go back and read every argument you’ve had about her to confirm, I’m quite certain people have told you what they like about her time and time again. You already know why people like her, you just don’t agree with any of those reasons. which is fine. People are people and are gonna disagree on things. but no amount of telling people who like her why they shouldn’t like her is going to make them not like her.

Eh, they forgave Princess “Nightmare Moon” Luna and Dis “I Might Actually Be The Closest This Setting Has To A Satanic Figure” Cord.
They not only forgave the mare who nearly murdered the world (Or, we thought did until time travel shenanigans) because, as far as we can canonically can tell, felt unappreciated, they put her back on the throne. And also Dis-fucking-cord.
No, they let that motherfucker off the hook. The guy who casually raped their minds and upended the fucking land. Starlight did the same thing, albeit the former less for fun and more her twisted ideals and the latter because fuck time travel.
Ponies RUN on easily forgiven. And at this point, I think the 6 are just jaded. “What, you accidentally destroyed the world? That’s almost cute. Let’s hang out sometime.”

That
doesn’tshouldn’t surprise me. I mean, I’ve seen people who strongly dislike other things, certain episodes and other characters, like Discord or Flash “The Bradinator” Sentry, but none of them show up as frequently as Starlight “Death Is But A Doorway” Glimmer to really pour oil on that flame. The grievances are legitimate, I think, but I’m angrier with the writers than with the character. That they turn around and gimme some fun stories with her makes it all better in my book.
Because some people are capable of letting go of a grudge and some aren’t. If the ponies can forgive her ehy can’t you?
Because some people like strawberries instead of apples.
IMHO, there are threads in the forum for this kinda stuff. I’d kinda like to see comments about the picture Jon made in this thread.
The urge to disagree with people that disagree with them? A willingness to take the show at its word? I dunno. I like the evil little screw up. Cult Horse was especially fun in this episode.
I just want to know why it is that some people like her so much. What is it about her that people find so credible, they’d be willing to defend her no matter what?
you’re not at fault for not liking a character. the only thing you’re at fault for is continuously trying to convince everyone else how bad she is.
like srsly, you’ve been harping about her for months. you’ve already been banned once for it. You’re kind of obsessed, boyo.
Are you seriously asking that?
It’s not. You’re not at fault, not really. People responding to you and tying themselves up in knots arguing with you are. I disagree with you, but I don’t wanna lose sleep over it. It’s peeking down at the plethora of arguments that rile me up.
I wanted to see if there was any positive to balance the negative there. I got my answer, and it told me everything I needed to know.

your current filter.First of all, Starlight is more of a terrorist than a revolutionary, considering her actions and mindset at the time.
Second of all, my idea of a Celestia episode has nothing to do with Starlight Glimmer or a done-to-death plot line like the ol’ switcheroo. My idea of it is basically a slice-of-life theme to show what the royal sisters are like when outside of the audience chamber of their castle, the two of them showing their true colors to the invisible audience and themselves only. It accomplishes the same idea of looking past the crowns and ideals, but doesn’t have to stoop to hole-ridden plots or using horrendously bad characters in the process.
Except that most other characters would’ve been too blinded by awe to try to resolve the conflict, because, you know, princesses. The former revolutionary was perfect there. And even those characters who could’ve seen past the crowns would’ve had to force their way through Celestia’s facade of perfection and Luna’s general reluctance to seek any kind of help. Starlight sliced through the Gordian knot, and for once doing so actually kind of worked.
Plus, after Twilight’s last panic attack, the story did shift focus to the sisters. Starlight acted as little more than a sounding board while they tried to adapt themselves to each other’s roles.
But beyond that, I have a question for you: What would you have wanted to see? How could this have been improved? It’s all well and good to list what you didn’t like about the episode, but do you have a concrete vision of the Celestia episode you were hoping for?
