Maybe they are from a land where there were mixed groups of griffons and ponies that eventually bred true as hippogriffs, and the pony and griffon populations were replaced over time as hippogriff traits are dominant.

Why would hippogriffs have their own nation? In mythology they are created when a horse and griffon mate. Are they all outcasts to both races or something?

||Funny how we are going to get what looks to be a Twilight episode involving a Zeppelin cruise.  
We’ve always known that Zeppelin exist in Equestria and are used by Ponies for awhile now.  
Maybe in the movie we will finally get to see them used in war. ||

Villainous 4th wall breakers who aren’t joke characters… don’t tend to see that outside of cosmic level villains.

Why do I get the feeling the movie is going to involve a big dogfight?

We have yet to see or hear any mention of what lies on the western flank of Equestria. Or further east of the Griffon Kingdom.

South makes the most sense in that Equestria is effectively North America, with the griffon lands being Europe. Everything has to be south from that. And if you take the EQ map, the north is clearly the arctic part of the planet, but we don’t see the south pole area of the world so more to explore down there.

What I want to know is in what direction this area lies from Equestria.

I swear my headcanon that mlp takes place in the far future of humanity only strengthens, just LOOK at that continent the resemblance to America’s east coast is uncanny. Any obvious changes to the world can be blamed on plate tectonics.

From the looks of it. This is either a rip-off of Rayman Origins or something that should’ve been in that game.

What makes you say that? I mean, he’s definitely more laid back than any of us were expecting, assuming this is faithful to his depiction in the movie. The comic writers do tend to take certain…liberties, like how they cranked up Chrysalis’ humor or Sombra’s chattiness.
