Alladin on Sega Genesis  
Lion King on Sega Genesis  
Disney’s Adventures in The Magic Kingdom on NES
 
These were all made in partnership with Capcom and they(Capcom) did the actual game making.

Kingdom Hearts video game is actually MADE by Square Enix. Disney only provides Disney contents to the developers. Disney themselves know next to nothing about game making.

Just glad Cartoon Network is not handling MLP and that MLP is not an action toon. Given the shitty way they are handling/had handled the 2009 He-man series, ThunderCats, symbiotic Titan, and now Young Justice with Green Lantern…

It might work out fine. They probably don’t even care about MLP. The big movie money, transformers and GI Joe, that’s what they’d be interested in.
 
But I still don’t want this to happen. There’s still just way to much that can go wrong.
 
I want to say it’s just a stupid rumor, which it is, but it makes to much sense for them.
 
You can’t say it’s too soon. They bought Marvel not long ago, now Lucasfilm. It’s not like they don’t have the money.

Disney isn’t THAT strict on fan-made material. They’re not one of those companies that shuts down fanfiction (some authors, like Anne Rice, actually will threaten fanfic authors). There’s a lot of fanart of Disney characters that is allowed to exist. The worst I can see happening is taking down YouTube videos.
 
There was even a Haunted Mansion-themed haunted house this year in South Orange County. It was a completely unlicensed fan tribute to the ride at Disneyland, and not terribly far away from the park either. They didn’t even get shut down.
 
There was a huge panic back when they bought Marvel, too, but then we got the Avengers. Which ALSO has a huge fandom.

Cue everyone panicking, crying, cussing out and sending threats.

Its only a rumor, guys. Remember that. Just a rumor.  
Me? I just don’t feel around about this. I think the show will suffer some. While the community will suffer more.

I dont want Disney to own MLP, but the idea of MLP being in Kingdom Hearts is just…

What is wrong with me!?

I am not a complete Disney hater, mind you, they do some incredible things. But people forget that it’s not just Disney that out KH but a joint venture with Square Enix. Same way, Marvel and Capcom came together for their Marvel versus Capcom. however, the trade off would be too great and all creativity that made MLP so great, fan made videos, art and the like would be severely limited or even halted.
 
Honestly, I never really enjoyed KH all that much (too chaotic gameplay IMO) so yeah, not really ecstatic if MLP were placed in. Not at the cost of seeing some fan made stuff.

As much as KH is cool and all, that’s one of only a few possible pros. The cons are HUGE.
 
Hell, it’s entirely possible they’ll cancel the show entirely. They’ve done it enough before.
 
The odds they’d leave things as is are miniscule. And them dropping the copyright hammer is a guarantee. We’ve gotten used to having episodes on youtube, but that’s a rare thing for a company to allow, we’d be fine without. The problem is EVERYTHING ELSE on youtube would go with it. Fan works across the board. Commentaries, PMVs, music, the anthologies, fan animations.
 
If they get really carried away, the games, art, blogs, EQD, maybe even the fan fiction. Conventions? Not happening. Even this very site could go.

If Disney owns MLP? Say goodbye to ALL YouTube MLP videos, fan art merchandise at cons and sites like these. Disney will put the iron clad boots to any fan artist displaying their work at MLP conventions. It already affects several comic book conventions since they now own Marvel and Lucas Arts.

Couldn’t agree more. Though I do under stand that there are people who like the idea of ponies in KH but are opposed to Disney taking over Hasbro.

No Twilight. You will not be in Kingdom Hearts. Knowing Disney, though, you WILL be off of youtube.

Disney is one of the biggest copyright nazis on earth. The only reason this community has worked is hasbro being cool with it. If that changes, this fandom dies.
