Eh based on the yearly additions to fanfiction stories, they were very weakened. Not to mention, even if a story is not focusing on romance, SugarBellexBigMac for example is now a standard status quo in fanfiction just like Mr with Mrs Cake. Which makes this ship by default more spread and MarbleMac need to focus some pages of the story to establish how does this work and why he isn’t with SugarBelle. Basically canon romances dig many fences that old shippers need to jump over.
You say that as if people won’t keep shipping regardless.
Yeah. We’re just very few now. And I wish I could read mod of his stuff. It was really good.

I only say it because I remember what happened to the pairing of Zutara in ATLA. It seemed as pretty much when it didn’t happen, all the fans of that pairing seemed to just drop their liking of the pairing, and that was really dumb.
No true shipper will.
