Y’know, I think this was the first time the character was mentioned by her “full” name.  
“Heartstrings” was her first toy name, and “Lyra” came from the fanbase. I’m surprised Hasbro is cool with using popular fanon names.

You know I’m surprised they didn’t try a second round with this joke after Maud said she wanted a friend.  
Pinkie: “You want a friend?” Runs off screen for a second comes back with Lyra again. “HOW ABOUT LYRA HEARTSTRINGS?”  
Bonbon comes back to drag Lyra away from the crazy pink pony again.

That’s it I’m taking my Lyra and going home.

Shipping or not, Pinkie here is WAY out of line threatening Lyra like that. Element of Laughter my plot!

I’m probably one of the only bronies here that actually prefers them as a platonic pairing, but that aside I’d rather they just keep their relationship ambiguous, (like they have) so whether people like them as either a romantic, or “just friends” platonic pairing are free to think so.
 
At the same time, I don’t think ’shippers should insist they can only be a romantic couple, I think fans should be free to interprete them other ways if they wish too. Honestly, ’shippers are kinda Flanderizing them with the ’ship to the point we hardly see any other sides to them in fanon, besides LyraBon smooching. (They never even get ‘shipped with any other character.) I kinda feel the same about DJ/Vinyl, and Octavia too.  
No offense, but I’m so burnt out on LyraBon, I wish the “Lyra likes humans/pants,” or “BonBon is not amused,” and such memes would come back.
