Funny you mention that. I’m actually working on a story where Starlight goes on a date with Sunburst. Trixie sees them and follows them around all day covertly setting up various ways to try to “get the wagon rolling” between the two of them.

Don’t lose hope. Anything from 4chan should always be taken with a grain of salt… or whatever that means. I can’t confirm this but according to some people, Mike Vogel’s comment about Starlight and Sunburst’s relationship during Babscon was asked during a dual writer panel. There were also 8 year old fans asking him questions about the characters. Sadly, I haven’t found any videos about this. The video that I found only had adult fans asking him questions about what its like to be a writer and stuff like that and he was not accompanied by any other writer. So who knows? Maybe its just 4chan trolling but if it is a lie, anons are still pushing it.

Trixie is a very good friend to Starlight. The thing I like about her presence is that both Starlight and Sunburst appear to be introverted emotional cowards as evident in the episodes where they “rekindled.” Its hard for introverts to hook up unless they have an extroverted wing man to help them out. I bet if EVER, the show does explore a “crush” angle between Starlight and Sunburst, I believe Trixie will be their primary wing pony. At least, that’s my fantasy. And there’s no wrong way to fantasize.

I didn’t read the whole 4chan thread, just a few glimpses here and there. It seems like Mike Vogel may have went against some of MA Larson’s better ideas including some ideas for Slice of Life that never made it to the episode. Vogel is (I think) also responsible for Flurry Heart and over all why there are so many alicorns on the show. A lot of fans on 4chan don’t like Starlight and her current role on the show. Vogel (I think) is responsible for Starlight. I’d post a link to the 4chan thread if I could but I can’t find the link anymore.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the “romance brewing between Starlight and Sunburst” comment by Mike Vogel was a lie that was started by some anon on 4chan.

No shipping related questions was asked. The only thing his interview managed to accomplish is to make the older fogies of the fandom hate the guy because he might be responsible for a lot of the salt in the fandom right now.
 
I like Starlight and Sunburst, though. Romantically or otherwise, they’re one of the few opposite gender friends on the show that can really be an example to little girls that its alright to be friends with boys too.

I think that would be an interesting Cadence episode. She is the Princess of Love as opposed to Twilight being the Princess of Friendship. Maybe there’s a reason why Starlight and Sunburst reunited in the Crystal Empire.
