It’s one of the inconsistencies of the show. To learn stage magic (and at a professional level) requires A LOT of effort and discipline. How it’s possible that she never tried to train her natural magic?

Well, she not a very powerful mage, but she had a good magician talent. Keyword “had”. Looks like lasting effects of Alicorn amulet fried her brain, and she completely forgot how to cast all her 5+ spells that she did a while ago in Ponyville Ursa fiasco. Well, all except telekinesis, that’s it.
