No as the sole narrator everything Aqui’s say is true, double since there is not counter to his claim or any hint he was lying.
 
Also by keeping it “deliberately vague” you made it unclear as to their limits. Also you never shown Celestia as anything more than Aqui’s fuck toy/being saved by him to look awesome, so her being “nearly all power” is as hollow as a balloon.

Aqui didn’t die and get resurrected, he was having a near-death experience. Read some IRL accounts of people who had NDEs; it gets freaky sometimes. So, yeah, that was me trying to be artsy fartsy.
 
Also, super magic pony =/= invincible god being. I tried to keep it deliberately vague about the exact nature of the alicorns. As sole narrator, everything Aqui says is colored by his experiences and observations. He is far from impartial.

At this point in the series, these were literally the only four guard ponies we had ever been shown. I always thought of them as an honor guard. Celestia is powerful, certainly, but the series as made it clear that she is not ALL-powerful.
 
Lots more clones followed, as well as a few palette swaps. I know some fans prefer the explanation that the armor magically makes all guard ponies identical. Just to be different, I ran with the idea of them being siblings. Good ol’ nepotism.
 
At some point, you just have to accept the limitations of FiM’s weekly production schedule and stop trying to make everything fit into a neat little box.
