That sounds hilarious.

This comic reminds me of a fan fiction I read once that used Spike as a straw man in this relationship. Everything that one could complain about was attributed to Spike, and eventually he just left and went to live with Fluttershy. It was supposed to be a big emotional moment when Twilight realized that she had sided with Trixie but in the next chapter there literally was a line that went “everything was going fine without Spike around.” One of the last chapters was Trixie going to Fluttershy’s and giving Spike a speech that went along the lines of “I was a douche to you because you kept interrupting my make-out sessions with your mom/sister/friend, but it’s your fault that you don’t like me because you don’t know me that well.”
 
It poisoned me against the Twilight/Trixie ship forever.
