It’s ok, I kinda feel similarly about Lyra & BonBon. (They just seem so Flanderized by that pairing. Fans are starting to do the same with DJ & Octavia. You never even see anyone pair ‘em with other characters anymore, whether platonic or shippy.)
 
I liked “Slice of Life,” but I can understand why some didn’t. Frankly, I prefered M.A. Larson’s original idea of having DJ just visit Octavia and get on her nerves rather then share a house with her, and such.

Starswirl is actually the son of Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst as they got sucked into a time portal.

DJ is star swirl the bearded. she teleports. Alongside with her musical war car. U know DJ is most probably NOT star swirl right? So m just kidding. But that still can be possible. Besides,she’s a unicorn.

Agreed so hard on Octavia and DJ. To this day, that ship annoys me to no end. I really did not enjoy “Slice of Life” at all and I feel like the only person in the fandom that just doesn’t like the pairing.

It’s always been a rule that she shows up at least once a season. Granted, nowadays she shows up alot more in recent ones.

Perhaps she does feel a li’l like forced fan-service at times, especially when they put her with Octavia. (2 characters whom never even interacted, nor appeared in the same episode, until after fans popularized the pairing whether they portray them as ‘shippy or platonic.) I mean a li’l fanservice is ok, but in small amounts.
 
I did like her somewhat humorous role in “No Second Prances.” I’m also glad they keep her silent, seeing how nearly every popular BG/bit character has talked at least once now at one point. It’s gotten to the point where it’s not surprising anymore when a previously silent character talks. (I say wait, and have her say something in the series finale though. Something like that would be unexpected.)  
I do like the fanon voice Nowacking gave her, kinda a laid-back California girl lazy voice. So it’s hard to imagine her with any other voice.

Agreed. Must be rich by now. I just wish they did use the other DJ sometimes: Neon Lights. Agreed on other music ponies getting the spotlight too.

I don’t like how she gets jammed into near any situation that involves music. Event in Ponyville? There’s DJ. Event in Mangehattan? There’s DJ. Event in Canterlot? DJ. Wedding event? DJ. Dance hall? DJ. Dress show? DJ. Ceremonial gala to hand out Medals of Valour? Have a DJ.
 
She feels overused, out of place (seriously, a DJ for such an important event?), and stifles the appearance of other music-related characters we’ve seen over the years.
