OK back. Dope apparently changes meaning all the time, ranging from a type a gravy (1800s), poison (1860s) opium (1880s), syrup (1900s), a sort of cola (1910s), a mixture of drugs heated into a syrup-like substance (derived from the earlier “syrup” meaning), another word for “medicine”, and finally marijuana (1950s). But yes, it has shifted to mean heroin (and sometimes any other opiate) in recent years.
I know you’re just having fun but I just wanna explain something. Dope is heroin. I’ve never heard a marijuana smoker refer to marijuana as dope. In fact, most abhor that term being used to describe cannabis.
