So who is Moon Dancer in this situation? Is it Sunburst who secludes himself in his studies or is it Starlight who, for fear of being hurt, vowed never to make another friend? I think its Moon Dancer trying to be friends with Moon Dancer.

Not really. Moondancer just shut herself because she didn’t have any friends. To my recollection, her episode made no mention about her competence, or her ability to use her acquired knowledge.

It just dawned on me that Starlight Glimmer didn’t even go to their magic school and managed to be more powerful than Twilight and come up with a cutie mark stealing spell…

I had to check the transcript in the wiki… Because I didn’t remember either. He doesn’t say that. Just that he learned a bunch of stuff and doesn’t know what to do with it. His drama was that SG thought that he was a big, important wizard, when in reality he was… Out of job?

Ahem… You’re a loser that graduated from a supposedly esteemed teaching institution and sat on all the stuff you’ve learned not knowing what to do with it until I came, while Twilight got a bunch of books and few of her teacher’s messes to fix and became a princess.
