It looks heartbreaking, but this takes place at the moment Twilight and Spike meet Moondancer again; so they are actually preventing her from commiting suicide :)

I’m writing this suicide note because I’ve just gone to Canterlot University and I mean, do we really need yet another friendless nerdy unicorn like me in the world. I mean there’s so many of them already. I’m pretty sure they just crowned one of them a few months ago. I actually can’t believe how many of them are there. So in summary, goodbye mom, your managing skills weren’t the best and I’m pretty sure that’s the reason ponies didn’t come to my birthdays, but I won’t hold that against you.
Goodbye.”
“Dear Mom, Dad, and sister, “ the rest is not text.
@Daneasaur
Yeah, notice in the episode she had no issue at all with them missing until she a lot of them did, then she went looking and saw suspicious stuff (because they actually were avoiding her and her party and keeping a secret).
It was played well enough that even I, the viewer, thought she was being avoided.
Well… she actually was, just not because they were tired of her parties or because they were going to kick her out of the friend group :p
It wasn’t so much that “they don’t like her parties”, but that they were outright avoiding her and lying to her. She grilled Spike and he wound up telling her what she wanted to hear (that her friends were abandoning her and making plans behind her back).
She honestly felt they were organizing a malicious situation aimed at her.
Just looking through sad Moondancer and I noticed this actually uses the same start as this…
But it looks more like it was originally drawn for this context, despite this image being newer… Huh. I wonder how all this came together?
EDIT: Aha! Thank you for commenting so soon, BigBadSeed! Your comment happened 2 hours before that other image was uploaded. So despite this being at a significantly higher index, it was uploaded first. Further evidenced by the comments pointing out its merging changing its uploading date.
Ohyeah! Case closed!

Okay, firstly I’m not trying to be a duck and start something here, nor am I trying to mock or insult Softy. The image is ‘accurate’, show-wise that is, assuming the MLP Wiki is accurate.
Minuette: I think this is the place. Didn’t used to look like this, though.
Yes, it’s currently 12:31 a.m. here and I’m needlessly “researching” My Little Pony quotes. Maybe I should just go to sleep now.
PS. My happy interpretation of the scene displayed here is as follows:
Moondancer is simply writing to her family to request somepony come and help her. Poor Moondancer has the flu, The PONY FLU, thus her shivering body, watery eyes and a runny nose. Also that’s not a noose, it’s the pull string for her desk lamp, it needing such a large loop in order to accommodate a hoof. Either that or she’s totally suicidal and is just about to end it all. Ponies are such fragile creatures. Having a bad day? Welll, that’s okay! Just go insane and either a killing spree or total emotional breakdown later and everything will be right as rain. Then you and your frein… Oh, I see.. Poor Moondancer. Poor Moondancer indeed…
I’m kidding. Moondancer did seem happier in The Cutie Re-Mark

Hey, I just saw the description.
I believe that can happen when two versions of an image are merged.
Logical escalation is a powerful thing.
Good point. Pinkie isn’t 100% sane, that’s for sure.
What Twilight said was true…
“All the ponies in this town are CRAZY!!!”
Well, replace ‘this town’ with ‘Equestria’ and it’s much more accurate.
She wasn’t insane already? :P

I’m not sure if this counts as the same, but what about Starlight losing her childhood friend and growing up to become a supervillain because of it?
Maybe ponies in general just have trouble coping with this sort of thing?
The “did” in “didn’t” is the inflected helper verb, so the “use” remains uninflected as “use”.
Yeah, when they missed one party. I dunno if she got better about that or not but even in my dreams I wouldn’t dare miss one of her parties now D:
Don’t forget, Pinkie went temporarily insane when she was afraid her friends didn’t like her parties anymore.
Weakness is a powerful thing.
